inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Social Affairs is collaborating with the Ministry of Religious Affairs in an effort to make the People's School and poverty alleviation programs a success.

This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf and Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/3/2025).

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf emphasized that coordination between the two ministries is very important to strengthen the government's efforts to eradicate poverty, especially through the People's School program.

"Our presence here is to strengthen cooperation, especially in carrying out tasks related to poverty alleviation and the implementation of People's Schools," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

He explained that the synergy between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Religious Affairs is in line with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution Article 34 which states that the poor and neglected children are cared for by the state.

In addition, Law Number 13 of 2011 concerning Handling the Poor also emphasizes that social interventions must include the development of self-potential, including mental, spiritual, and skills guidance.

The Minister of Social Affairs added that the People's School program aims to provide access to education for children from poor families.

"This People's School is a school whose students come from poor and extremely poor families. Its presence is a form of the state in honoring the poor and facilitating the rise of the little people," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The People's School is designed with a boarding school system and is free for students from elementary to high school levels.

With this system, it is hoped that children from underprivileged families can obtain a decent and quality education, so that they can improve their standard of living in the future.
