South Korea Continues Search for Missing Indonesian Boat Crew

The South Korean government continues to search for four Indonesian boat crew who went missing after the fishing vessel 2 Haesinho sank off the southern coast of Tongyeong City, South Korea, on 9 March 2024. "The South Korean government will continue to search for the four Indonesian victims who have not yet been found," said South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Lee Sang Deok on Saturday (16/3/2024), as reported by antaranews.com. He said that South Korean government have deployed 19 Korean Coast Guard ships, one Korean Navy ship, and 27 private vessels around the location, along with 13 helicopters and 20 divers for the search operation. Furthermore, the South Korean Government has coordinated with the company owning the vessel to prepare for the repatriation of the three Indonesian crew members' bodies that were previously found, as well as to ensure their rights are fulfilled. The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) received the three bodies of Maulana Mansyur from Sukabumi, West Java; R Arie Permana from Sumedang, West Java; and Safrudin from Brebes, Central Java. at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten.  BP2MI have transported them to their respective hometowns.
