Inp.polri.go.id - Cimahi. The Cimahi Sub-regional Police have confirmed that the death of a 17-year-old student from SMK Dharma Pertiwi vocational high school in West Bandung, West Java during a school play was purely accidental, with no criminal elements involved.
Cimahi Chief Superintendent Tri Suhartanto said on Thursday (27/2/2025) that the victim, identified as MRD, suffered fatal injuries while performing a scene involving self-harm. The incident occurred on 20 February 2250 at around 10 AM in the schoolyard.
Investigations revealed that victim MRD initially used a needle to pop balloons attached to the chest and abdomen as stage props. However, when the needle proved ineffective, the victim switched to a real pair of scissors borrowed from a friend.
"The victim attempted a second stab after failing the first time, leading to the fatal accident," Chief Tri explained, as wuoted by antaranews.com.
The police urged schools to exercise greater caution in performance content and prop selection, emphasizing the importance of avoiding scenes that promote violence or risk student safety.
