Tribratanews.polri.go.id.  - Kaltara. Police members in North Kalimantan must be aware as they will be monitored by Profession and Security Division (Dit Propam) and will get firm action from the Chief of North Kalimantan Police Inspector General Bambang Kristiyono if proven if involved in a case, particularly drug case.

The Head of Public Affairs Division of North Kalimantan Regional Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Budi Rachmat emphasized the firmness of the Chief of North Kalimantan Regional Police is accordance with the instruction from the Chief of Indonesian National Police who will take firm action toward Indonesian National Police personnel caught in drug case.

"It is in accordance with the direction of the Chief of Indonesian National Police, if there are members who are directly involved, they will be punished according to the existing regulations. The main task as member of the Indonesian National Police (in fighting drug trafficking), are to eradicate, suppress and arrest. Not falling for it too,” as explained by the Chief of North Kalimantan Regional Police.

Drug abuse issue within the members of the Indonesian National Police has indeed been  the Chief of Central Kalimantan Regional Police since he served as the the number one person in the Bhayangkara Corps in North Kalimantan. The personnel involved in the illegal goods will not be given space to pursue a career as members of the police.

He even gives  ultimatum to the member who cannot be warned, she or he must be fired immediately. According to him, there are still many police officers that must be protected so that they do not fall into similar problems.

"The Chief of North Kalimantan Regional Police always reminds his members not to get involved [in drug abuse or trafficking]. If there is one involved, especially until he becomes the dealer, there is no other way but to be fired. No mercy for drug case," as said by the Head of Public Affairs Division.

To combat drug abuse, synergy is needed among all stakeholders, including the community. Community can provide information if they something suspicious, as said by Budi.

This includes reporting if there are members of the Police who are involved, with  guarantee of the security of the ones who report.

“If there is a report, will move directly to investigate. Let’s work together to prevent the distribution of drugs. Including, do not hesitate to report if there is a member of Indonesian National Police is involved,” as mentioned by the Head of Public Affairs Division.

Police will keep on restricting the movement of drug abuse offenders in this province. The danger of drug comes from two sides, i.e. the external and internal.

External factor is related to the drug dealer and its networking, meanwhile the internal factor may come from the police. “Let’s together we protect our province, as the impact of drug is extremely miserable. Particularly if the victim is under-age children. Their future will be broken,” the Head of Public Affairs Division concluded.
