Inp.polri.go.id - Surakarta. Thousands of former members of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) from the Surakarta, Kedu, and Semarang regions declared the dissolution of their organization in Solo, Central Java, on Saturday (21/12/2024).
The declaration, attended by approximately 1,400 representatives, supported the disbandment of Al-Jamaah Al-Islamiyah in Bogor, West Java, on 30 June 2024.
The participants pledged allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia, vowing to renounce extremist ideologies and actively contribute to national development. They committed to abide by Indonesian laws and to uphold the principles required for reintegration into society.
Inspector General Sentot Prasetyo, Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Counterterrorism Special Detachment Densus 88, praised the efforts of community leaders in guiding former JI members toward a meaningful role in nation-building.
"This declaration signifies their full commitment to the Republic of IndonesiaI and embodies the collaboration between the government and society to strengthen national unity," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials including INP Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf.
