West Papua Police Destroys Seized Marijuana Evidence

Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari. The West Papua Regional Police's Narcotics Directorate destroyed  963.626 grams of marijuana at its headquarters on Friday (22/3/2024). The marijuana, seized from three separate cases by the  Narcotics Directorate's Operational Team, was incinerated. Superintendent Junov Siregar, Deputy Director of Narcotics Investigation, said, "Three drug crime cases were uncovered by the Narcotics Directorate's Team, involving suspects identified as JM, EL, and AS." In the first case, suspect AS was arrested with 291.45 grams of marijuana by Operational Team 2 in Kampung Baru, Sorong city, on 5 March 2024. Suspect JM, caught with 229.875 grams of marijuana aboard the KM Gunung Dempo ship, was arrested on 10 March 2024 in the same day where suspect EL was arrested also aboard the same ship at Manokwari Port. The seized evidence included 442.301 grams of marijuana, stored in 25 large clear plastic bags within 1 large black plastic bag inside a large backpack. The suspects face charges under Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with penalties ranging from 4 to 20 years imprisonment. (mg/mz/pr/nm)
