inp.polri.go.id - Medan. Around 1,370 transportation units support the accessibility and accommodation of XXI National Sport Week (PON) Aceh-North Sumatra athletes and guests in North Sumatra.

During a Transportation Press Conference PON XXI at PON XXI Media Center in North Sumatra, the Head of North Sumatra Transportation Department, Agustinus Panjaitan explains that 967 transportation units were provided by North Sumatra Transportation Department with additional 403 units from the Transportation Ministry.

The units are divided into categories from type 1-3 including minibus and private vehicles for special guests, to type 4 which is a bus for the athletes and committee. Then there is also type 5 which is a vehicle used for logistics and horses.

“Transportation has been allocated according to its categories and needs. We only need to ensure the driver and his companion to facilitate vehicle operations," added Agustinus.

The focus of the current transportation management and procurement is type 4 transportation which is for the athletes considering its importance.

The North Sumatra Transportation Department continues to do evaluation to ensure smooth operation. One of them is implementing innovations in the form of a fleet management system and two-way communication. These two innovations allow monitoring of vehicle direction and direct communication between drivers and officers to minimize errors and ensure operational efficiency.
