Inp.polri.go.id - Batam.  The Batam Concession Agency (BP Batam) has reported that 25 families on Rempang Island have relocated to temporary housing, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing Rempang Eco City project. Ariastuty Sirait, the head of BP Batam's Public Relations, Promotion, and Protocol Office, said  on Monday (9/10/2023)that their field team facilitated the move of eight families to temporary housing, bringing the total number of relocated families to 25. She emphasized there was no coercion or intervention involved in the relocation process. Rather, residents who express support for the National Strategic Project (PSN) were making voluntary decisions over their relocation, antaranews.com reported. According to BP Batam's records, out of the 900 families residing on Rempang Island, 341 have consented to the relocation process. Until permanent housing within the new development site is completed, affected residents will be accommodated in temporary housing at Bida 3 Housing in Sambau. The ambitious Rempang Eco City project is slated for development on 8,142 hectares of land within the expansive 17,600-hectare Rempang area, as detailed on BP Batam's official website. To compensate the affected residents for their relocation, they will receive new Type 45 houses valued at IDR 120 million each, with a maximum land area of 500 square meters in either Tanjung Banon or Dapur 3 Sijantung.
