6.000 Personnel Deployed for ASEAN Summit Security: INP

The Indonesian National Police (INP) has affirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the upcoming 43rd ASEAN Summit, scheduled to take place from September 5 to 7, 2023, in Jakarta, Commissioner General Fadil Imran, the Head of INP Security Maintenance Board, stated on Monday (4/9/23). "Joint forces comprising 6.182 personnel from the INP Headquarters, Metro Jaya Regional Police, Banten Regional Police, and West Java Regional Police are fully prepared to uphold security measures for the 43rd ASEAN Summit," he said. These joint forces are organized into eight task forces (satgas), each entrusted with specific responsibilities within the event's third security ring. These tasks encompass a comprehensive array of functions, including preemptive and preventive measures, logistical coordination, convoy escorts, legal enforcement, public relations, operational support, and counterterrorism, he explained. Within the scope of the third security ring, he added, the INP assumes the crucial role of ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow, which includes the escort of all ASEAN Summit participant from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to the event venue and designated accommodations. He concluded, "Our priority remains the safety and well-being of our foreign guests. We aspire to see this event unfold seamlessly and securely, fostering an environment of utmost tranquility and highlighting our nation's gracious hospitality as diligent hosts." (ndt/hn/nm)
