“We will continue what we have started. The food estate is for the future of the country. Remember, food security is identical to the country's security," he said on Wednesday (10/23/2024).

The food estate project, one of which is being implemented in Central Kalimantan, covers an area of ​​30,000 hectares in the former peatland area.

According to him, the food estate project which was designed with the concept of integrated food development in Central Kalimantan has been equipped with a rice plant irrigation system on a stretch of rice fields of around 100 thousand hectares.

He also mentioned that the irrigation installation has also been prepared to water the rice fields up to 500 thousand hectares.

He further said that 1,000 hectares of it are ready to be planted with rice.

“It is such a waste if we can water the field but there’s no field to water. Therefore, we aim to expand this field to 200,000, then growing up to 400,000 to 500,000 hectares,” conclude Minister Andi Amran.
