Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of Agriculture Dr. Andi Amran Sulaiman has suspended non-religious holidays for his ministry, urging his staff to maximize efforts in achieving food self-sufficiency.

“We're suspending holidays at the Ministry of Agriculture, except for religious ones,” he said on Wednesday (23/10/2024).

Although not an official mandate, the directive is intended to motivate the ministry's staff to work harder on expanding rice fields, improving irrigation, and developing new farmland.

The initiative supports President Prabowo Subianto’s goal of achieving food self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. In his inauguration speech, the President pledged that Indonesia would become self-reliant in food production within four to five years.
