Inp.polri.go.id – Bangka Belitung. The Head of Bangka Belitung Regional Police, Inspector General Tornagogo Sihombing vows to curb tin ore mining activities without permit at the estuary of the Sungailiat Air Kantung. The mining activities are said to have caused the silting of the estuary.

In his statement, Tornagogo stressed that the curb initiative is taken because it would leave the estuary dredging in vain if the mining activities continue. He further says that the scheme of dredging of the Air Kantung estuary has been designed and it requires monitoring for the sake of people’s prosperity.

“We are not enriching someone or some entity. We are in position to comply with the applicable rules and it has to be quickly completed for the sake of people’s prosperity,” explains Tornagogo.

Furthermore, Tornagogo asked for illegal tin miners to stop their mining activities before the police had to enforce the law against them.

It is worth to note that the Air Kantung Estuary has long become the gates for hundreds of fishermen who docked at Perikanan Nusantara Port. The silting of the estuary has been occurring for years until now.
