Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Chief of Papua Regional Police Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said on Tuesday (2/14/2023) that the authorities will not give space to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya to disrupt the development process in Papua.
"As the Chief of Papua Regional Police, I assert that I will not give space to KKB that often disrupt the development process in Papua," he said.
The police chief said that the security forces and local leaders will take the initiatives to establish communication and engage in dialogue and establish with the Kogoya-led KKB, adding that they have to cease any action that could induce fear among local communities in Nduga.
Papua Regional Police has reported that the Kogoya group has committed 65 crimes, consisting of 31 shooting cases, 16 shootouts, 8 attacks, 3 massacres, and 2 arson cases from 2017 to 2023.
The group's involvement in criminal cases such as murder, rape, assault, threat, and kidnapping of a pilot has raised alarms for the security authorities, indicating the extent of the violence and destruction that the Kogoya group have inflicted in the region.
