Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Investigators from the Bali High Prosecutor's Office have detained Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Gde Antara, the Rector of  Udayana University (Unud), in connection with an alleged corruption case involving Institutional Development Donation (SPI) funds for new independent student admissions. Prof. Antara, detained at the Special Crimes Building of the Bali High Prosecutor's Office, emerged from the SPI investigators' room on Monday, wearing a bulletproof vest and in handcuffs. He was subsequently transported to the Kerobokan Class IIA Correctional Facility, Badung, Bali, using the detention van of the Bali High Prosecutor's Office. "As of today, investigators have remanded the suspects at Kerobokan Prison for the next 20 days," stated Putu Agus Eka Sabana Putra, Head of the Legal Information Section at the Bali Prosecutor's Office. Following their interrogation from 09:00 to around 12:23 Wita, three other suspects, IKB, IMY, and NPS, all officials within the Rectorate of Udayana University, Bali, were also detained. The basis for their detention is to facilitate the required examination during the investigation process. "The initials NPS, IKB, and IMY are in separate files," he said. Before being transported to the Kerobokan Prison, all four suspects were evaluated by a doctor from the Bali High Prosecutor's Office, who declared them fit for detention. Previously, the investigative team led by Agus Eko Purnomo, Special Crimes Assistant (Aspidsus) of the Bali High Prosecutor's Office, had named Prof. Antara as a suspect, along with three other individuals, namely I Ketut Budiartawan (IKB), Nyoman Putra Sastra (NPS), and I Made Yusnantara (IMY). Prof. Antara's designation as a suspect was based on substantial evidence including witness testimonies, expert opinions, correspondence, and material evidence. Investigators concluded that Prof. Antara played a significant role in the alleged corruption of SPI Unud funds. In this instance, Prof. Antara, who held the position the Rector of Udayana University for the term 2021-2025, also chaired the Independent New Student Admission Committee from 2018 to 2020.
