Banten Regional Police Thwarts Drug Smuggling from Riau in Merak Harbor

inp.polri.go.id - Banten. Banten Regional Police thwarted meth drug flow that was hidden in the car interior. In the operation, police found around 30 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The PR Chief of Banten Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Didik Hariyanto says that police stopped the car when it was about to enter Merak Harbor, Pier 06 Executive. Police then arrest HR (21) and TR (32) for smuggling drugs that they hid in their car interior.

“Members of Cirebon Subr-regional Police have apprehended meth drug couriers for smuggling 30 kilograms of drugs. The initials of the suspect are HR and TR,” said Didik in written statement on Wednesday (7/17/2024).

Didik reveals that the two suspects confess that they acquired the drug from someone with the initials of R from Pekanbaru, Riau. HR and TR swore that they were just couriers.

According to the two suspects, drug transactions were performed three times for the past three months. HR was promised to be paid for IDR 15 million while TR is IDR 10 million.

The case uncovering was thanks to the collaboration between Lampung Regional Police, particularly South Lampung Sub-regional Police and Cilegon Sub-regional Police. With the thwarting of the drugs valuing up to IDR 30 million, they have saved around 312,000 people’s lives.

“Suspects were charged with Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with a maximum threat of the death penalty," he concluded.
