Bitcoin halving is an event that occurs approximately every four years, during which the reward for mining new Bitcoin blocks is halved. Tirta Karma Senjaya, the Head of the Bureau of Development and Supervision of Commodity Futures Trading at Bappebti, emphasized the importance of choosing crypto investment platforms registered with Bappebti to ensure regulatory oversight. "Security is paramount. Therefore, it's crucial to opt for investment platforms registered with Bappebti before diving into crypto investments," he said on Thursday (14/3/2024), as reported by antaranews.com Throughout March 2024, the crypto market has witnessed a surge in prices ahead of the anticipated April 2024 Bitcoin Halving event. Bitcoin itself has soared to a new all-time high of $73,000 or approximately Rp1.13 billion. The impending Bitcoin Halving event is a major driver of this surge. Despite the potential gains in the crypto market, Tirta cautioned against engaging in illegal crypto investments. According to him, many investment schemes may seem logical but ultimately turn out to be scams. "Consumers have varying levels of risk tolerance, but some prefer to play it safe. Therefore, consumers need to be astute and utilize secure funds for their investments," Tirta explained. Regarding the diverse range of crypto assets available, he urged the public to familiarize themselves with their chosen crypto assets by regularly monitoring related data. Until 2023, Bappebti recorded 545 legal crypto assets tradable in Indonesia.
