Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) has identified five provinces as high-risk areas for the 2024 local elections based on four stages: social-political context, nominations, campaigning, and vote counting.
Bawaslu's Coordinator for Prevention, Community Participation, and Public Relations, Lolly Suhenti, named the high-risk provinces as East Nusa Tenggara, East Kalimantan, East Java, South Sulawesi, and Central Sulawesi. These regions were highlighted due to 27 indicators, including fluctuating policies and violations of civil servant neutrality, according to antaranews.com.
"East Nusa Tenggara ranks highest in risk because it exhibits 19 of the 27 indicators," she explained during the Launching of the 2024 Election Risk Mapping on Monday (26/8/24).
Moderate-risk provinces include Bali, North Kalimantan, South Papua, and Central Kalimantan. The remaining 29 provinces are categorized as low-risk.
In addition specific high-risk areas have been identified for each election stage: Aceh for social-political issues, Riau Islands for nominations, South Sulawesi for campaigning, and Papua for vote counting.
