Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) invites regional heads to maintain the neutrality of state civil servants (ASN) during the 2024 Regional Head Election.
"On September 22nd, there will be a determination of regional head candidates, and this is what makes us have to think and work harder to ensure ASN neutrality," said the Head of Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja on Tuesday (9/17/2024).
Based on the election vulnerability index released by Bawaslu, the issue of ASN neutrality is the third most vulnerable issue during the regional elections. For this reason, Bawaslu RI will hold a joint national coordination meeting specifically to anticipate ASN violations.
"We can compare, for example, during the 2019 or 2024 Elections, the number of ASN neutrality cases was no more than a thousand, but the 2020 Regional Head Election with only 170 regions, we actually saw 1,010 cases/violations," said the Chairman of Bawaslu RI.
According to him, the data shows the potential for an increase in ASN neutrality violations in the 2024 Regional Head Elections which will be held in 37 provinces and 508 regencies/cities.
On that occasion, the Chairman of Bawaslu RI also reminded that there are three points of vulnerability in the stages of the regional elections that need to be anticipated by regional heads and election organizers, namely the registration stage, campaign, and voting and vote counting.
Based on the 2024 Regional Head Election stages schedule, the determination of candidate pairs will be carried out on September 22nd, 2024. Afterwards, from September 25th to November 23rd, 2024, the candidate pairs are scheduled to campaign.
