inp.polri.go.id -  Bintang Puspayoga, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (Kemen PPPA), said that following the COVID-19 Pandemic, women have the highest responsibility of unpaid care work, leading in low female labor-force participation. "One of the most significant reasons why women lag behind men in the labor force participation sector is the unpaid care work burden they must bear," said Bintang Puspayoga on Thursday (10/13) at the G20 Side Event on Care Economy themed "The Future of Care Economy for Women, Children, and Quality Jobs" in Jakarta. The Minister added that according to the International Labor Organization (ILO), women perform 3.2 times more unpaid care work than men." “For decades, unpaid care work, especially child care, has been considered a woman's profession," stated Bintang Puspayoga. According to the Minister of PPPA, the potential for unpaid care labour, which is often associated with the informal sector of the economy, should be able to provide 475 million formal employment globally by 2030. (ILO, 2018). If this is achieved, it will have an influence on boosting women's labor-force participation, raising state income, strengthening families, enhancing children's health and cognitive skills, and delivering a favorable emotional impact. "Serious efforts should be undertaken to convert care labor to paid care in order to boost the economy of care and make care work a shared duty of men and women," stated the PPPA Minister. The Indonesian government acknowledges the value of nursing profession, particularly that connected to child care in the home. As a result, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection works to foster an atmosphere in which women and their families can provide quality care for their children. Pungky Sumadi, Deputy for Population and Employment at the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), emphasized the importance of formalizing maintenance work in increasing GDP and providing protection for workers, particularly women, which will ultimately increase development for humanity as a whole. "Beginning on October 15, 2022, we shall conduct Socio-Economic Registration, where it will be determined subsequently what sort of employment a person has and how much someone is paid for the hours they works." "If someone comes under the category of remaining at home to care for this family, they will be caught in the register," stated Pungky. Meanwhile, Masyita Crystallin, Special Staff to the Minister of Finance, stated that the projected economic worth of unpaid labor is 24 percent of the country's GDP or more than the manufacturing and trade sectors. Masyita also acknowledges the contribution of Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, which has created regulations to optimize child care and support women's involvement in the workplace.
