inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) plans to join the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Pasti) to strengthen synergy in anticipating cross-border terrorism funding.

"We hope to join Satgas Pasti so that we can obtain recommendations from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK)," said BNPT Chief Eddy Hartono.

Eddy explained that recommendations from PPATK are needed because in the Terrorism Funding Law, BNPT has an obligation to formulate a list of suspected terrorists and suspected terrorist networks.

He also revealed the Main Results of the 2021 Terrorism Financing (TPPT) Risk Assessment which became the basis for the importance of cooperation with the OJK.

The main results of the 2021 TPPT Risk Assessment consist of collecting funds for foreign terrorist fighters (FTF) through non-profit organizations (NPOs) and legitimate business ventures.

It also includes the transfer of funds using new payment technology methods, the use of funds to buy weapons and explosives, to the development of the latest threats, one of which is the misuse of virtual assets in the form of crypto.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Mahendra Siregar said the plan for BNPT to join the OJK Satgas Pasti is a must because of its relevance to the duties and functions of BNPT.

"It must join because its relevance is very strong and this is in accordance with international standards and its best practices also require it. If not, we are seen as having our own risk assessment," said the Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners.
