inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In the near future, the government will discuss the Bulog transformation plan. Bulog plans to change from a state-owned company (Perum) to a non-corporate institution on Friday (11/29/24).
Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, said that the Bulog transformation plan had received the President's approval. This was decided in an internal meeting led by President Prabowo Subianto.
"With the approval of the meeting, with the President's permission, we will start discussing this matter tomorrow, Friday, regarding the transformation of the Bulog institution," he said.
In his statement, he said that food self-sufficiency in Indonesia would be very dependent on the role of Bulog. For example, the absorption of rice and corn from farmers.
According to him, this transformation means that Bulog does not need to calculate profit and loss, like any state-owned companies.
Regarding Bulog's status as an autonomous body directly under the direction of the President, Zulhas was reluctant to give an answer. "It will only be discussed on Friday, we will let you know later," he explained.
Previously, he considered that Bulog's function must return to being a non-commercial institution. The goal is to achieve food self-sufficiency.
