inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan took steps to realize the target of food self-sufficiency in 2027. The effort was carried out according to the direction of President Prabowo Subianto for the sake of national food security.

One of the efforts made was by gathering ministers in the food sector such as Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and related parties in a Limited Coordination Meeting.

Coordinating Minister Zulhas said that the meeting resulted in a number of agreements. First, every village throughout Indonesia will have one agricultural extension worker.

"Agriculture sector is truly broad as there is rice farming, corn farming, and plantation farming, coconuts, coffee, chocolate, and others, also horticulture. Our farmers must be taught how to use fertilizer, how to make use of good seeds, and so on," said Coordinating Minister Zulkifli on Friday (11/29/2024).

It was then agreed by the central government to manage agricultural extension. Agricultural extension workers spread throughout Indonesia will be under the management of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Furthermore, Zulkifli revealed that the second point resulting from the meeting was that the Ministry of Agriculture could build irrigation networks if the regional government was unable to implement it due to budget constraints.

He said that the third point agreed upon in the meeting was that Indonesia would no longer import consumption salt in 2025. In fact, the same thing will also be applied in the salt industry in the next two years.
