Inp.polri.go.id - Martapura. The Indonesian National Police (INP) counterterrorism unit, Densus 88, arrested two suspected terrorists in East Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), South Sumatra, on Tuesday.

The suspects, identified MD (51) and MA (49), are believed to be linked to the Negara Islam Indonesia (NII) network.

“They had been under surveillance for some time and were apprehended without resistance,” said East OKU Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Kevin Leleury in a statement on Wednesday (20/11/2024).

MD, a resident of Triyoso village, was taken into custody at around 5.30 am., while MA, from Sidorahayu village, was arrested two hours later after dropping his child at school.

During searches of their homes, authorities seized books on jihad, documents, clothing, and mobile phones as evidence. The suspects were transferred to Palembang for further questioning.

The arrests are part of a coordinated nationwide operation targeting suspected terrorists, with similar actions taking place in Bengkulu and Jambi.
