The Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror (Densus 88) arrested nine individuals affiliated with the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) group across various regions in Central Java, confirmed INP's Head of Public Relations Division Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan on Thursday (14/12/23). The individuals, identified as WH, SW, TN, SP, SY, HR, MY, SD, and TB, were taken into custody as part of a targeted effort to dismantle the JI terrorist network. The operation resulted in the confiscation of a cache of weaponry, including six firearms, 10 gas guns (PCP), two crossbow arrows, 70 rounds of 5.56 ammunition (for long-barreled firearms), as well as 107 rounds of special 3.8 caliber ammunition (for short-barreled firearms) and 69 rounds of 9.9 caliber ammunition (for short-barreled firearms). He disclosed that this recent arrest is part of a series of operations, encompassing the detainment of 19 JI individuals across Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Java in October 2023. One suspect each was captured in West Sumatera, West Kalimantan, West Java, while West Nusa Tenggara had seven detainees, and South Sumatera and Lampung had five and four suspects, respectively.
