inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. DPN (National Dairy Council), highlights the issue of ‘quality’ in increasing milk absorption from local farmers. As of late, dairy farmers are forced to throw away the fresh milk they produce because the Milk Processing Industry refused to purchase the local fresh milk.
Chairman of the National Dairy Council, Teguh Boediyana, said that the dairy industry often argues that the quality of local milk does not meet standards, although the government has issued a policy that requires milk absorption.
"For me, this kind of alibi is nonsense. If the quality is indeed low, you can adjust the price to the quality of the milk. Just don't use the excuse of low quality to refuse local milk absorption," he explained on Tuesday (11/12/2024).
In several regions such as East Java, the absorption of milk quality has met the standards due to the IPS coaching.
In addition, he suggested that the government to create a special policy that regulates quality before being granted an import permit in order to encourage the local milk industry to be more proactive in coaching farmers.
Furthermore, on the other hand, he also hopes for regulations that can encourage companies to pay more attention to the welfare of farmers. He suggested the importance of a clear legal umbrella so that small farmers are able to rely on the industry to absorb their products.
