inp.polri.go.id - East Java. In the year-end press release of East Java Regional Police at Mahameru Building, the East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto declares war on online gambling and stressed the importance of early prevention steps.
In his remarks, he noted that early prevention steps are needed to combat online gambling. According to Imam, early education about the danger of online gambling to children at school are important other than banning the online gambling sites.
"At least we started the movement in the smallest circle of our life, such as our families. Let us instill values in children from toddlers to adults, that gambling is something that is dangerous and detrimental for their lives," he explained.
On the other hand, Imam also highlights the many online gambling ads that can be easily accessed digitally, be it from phone, laptop, or computer.
"These online gambling advertisements appear randomly and no less massive than the work we do," he explained.
For information, it is known that the police have made various efforts to eradicate online gambling, including taking action against perpetrators and providers of online gambling services.
However, the Regional Police Chief admitted that these efforts would not be effective without support from the community.
"We are still collecting data on online gambling cases, and maybe Mr. Bagus can add information related to this," he explained.
The East Java Regional Police hope that the community can play an active role in preventing the spread of online gambling by reporting any information related to online gambling activities to the authorities.
"Let's work together to create an environment free from online gambling," he explained.
