East Kalimantan Regional Police Arrest Nine Suspects who Threatened IKN VVIP Airport Construction Workers

The East Kalimantan Regional Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate reveals the construction workers of IKN VVIP Airport were threatened by unknown individuals. Back on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, the Heavy Machinery Operator was approached by a group of people during construction work of IKN VVIP Airport. The group asked and threatened the construction worker to stop their operation, which force them to stop the operation. On the next day, on Saturday (2/24/2024) around 08.30 am, the group returned to the construction site to forcibly stop the construction of IKN VVIP Airport. The group was carrying a sharp weapon of Mandau. Scared, the construction worker once again forced to stop their work. After being threatened two times a row, the construction work supervisor file a report to the police on the same day to Sub-regional Police North Penajem Paser. Responding to the report, police investigators immediately examined the supervisor and witnesses at the location and identified the group as suspect based on sufficient evidence. On the other hand, the East Kalimantan Regional Police PR Chief, Senior Superintendent Artanto explains that following the accident, the North Penajem Paser Sub-regional Police requested reinforcement from his party and successfully arrested nine suspects who threatened the construction workers. As of now, they have been moved to East Kalimantan Regional Police HQ for further questioning. “They will be charged with article 335 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code and/or article 2 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Emergency Law no. 12 of 1951," concluded the Head of Public Relations of the East Kalimantan Regional Police.
