Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo collaborated with Japanese authorities to determine the possibility that Indonesian citizens were passengers on the Japan Airlines (JAL) plane that caught fire at Haneda Airport at around 5.55 pm on Tuesday (2//1/2023).
"The Embassy also anticipates the possibility that Indonesian citizens may be stranded at Haneda Airport due to the cancellation of several flights," Judha Nugraha, the Director of the Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities at the Foreign Ministry, said in a brief statement.
The JAL plane caught fire after colliding with a Japan Coast Guard plane based at the airport, coast guard officials said. There were five casualties from the Japan Coast Guard plane.
All of the JAL plane's passengers and crew, 379 in all, escaped from the burning plane without life-threatening injuries, antaranews.com reported.
Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said it was investigating the incident, and Haneda Airport closed all runways.
