inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource (ESDM) conducted the first trial for the use of B40 Biodiesel for train transportation at Lempuyangan Station.

“Today we are holding a kick off for the use of B40 in train sectors,” said the Director General of Renewal and Conservation Energy, Eniya Listiani Dewi, quoted from Antaranews, on Monday (7/22/2024).

B40 Biodiesel is a mix of diesel fuel (BBM) with 40 percent biofuel (BBN) and planned to be used for Bogowonto Train of Lempuyangan Train Station, Central Jakarta.

In her statement, she says that the goal in using the B40 as the train fuel is for energy efficiency as it will save on diesel usage.

Moreover, the optimization of biofuel resources also advanced the suppression of the trade balance deficit in the country due to still high fuel imports.

Eniya Listiani Dewi estimates that the use of B40 will also save the state foreign exchange for around 9 billion USD, since the use of B35 has pushed the state foreign exchange for IDR 122 billion.

On the other hand, the trial for the use of B40 Biodiesel in Lempuyangan will continue until December 2024. The minimum test requirement for the railway sector, she said, requires 1,200 hours of travel time.
