Inp.polri.go.id -  Jakarta.  The Jakarta Police Hospital in Kramat Jati has begun a 14-day psychiatric observation of a father known as P, aged 41, who is suspected of murdering his four biological children in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. Brigadier General Hariyanto, the Head oft the Hospital, has confirmed that the hospital will release the results of his psychological evaluation at the end of the observation period, antaranews.com reported. Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on Sunday (10/12/2023), he explained: "The aim of psychological observation is to assess the mental well-being of the person involved in the case. According to regulations, mental health professionals are given a 14-day period to observe and assess the mental state of people involved in legal proceedings. The results of the mental health observation are summarized in a psychiatric forensic report or expert opinion. These findings are communicated by means of an official letter in order to support the prosecution process. The South Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police have charged P with premeditated murder, which carries a maximum penalty of death. P is also charged with violating the Child Protection Act.  The investigators are examining the motives behind P's alleged heinous actions against his own children. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
