The Commander of the Bekasi Fire Department, Salimi, admits that his party was late in deploying 11 fire engines after his party received a report of a fire at around 14:30 WIB. He also revealed that his party used special fluids or fire poison to extinguish the fire as the burning material was difficult to extinguish.

Salimi also revealed that the thick smoke had become one of the hurdles that made the extinguishing process difficult. Another difficulty was also due to the large crowd of residents watching the fire. At the location, there was also an explosion from gas when the fire first occurred.

"When we arrived, we did not know what caused the explosion as the gas had exploded once we had arrived. From what we have heard, it was from a gas leak,” said Salimi

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
