inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Transportation is committed to providing guidance on shipping safety from departure to arrival at the destination. This aims to ensure that ships that sail remain in good condition and safe from departure to arrival at the destination.

"In general, we continue to monitor ship safety, every time a ship departs, our officers supervise it. With supervision and guidance, the shipping goal is achieved, namely that the ship is safe from departure to arrival at the destination," said the Director of Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Hendri Ginting, as reported by the RRI page, Monday (9/16/24).

According to him, connectivity of ships between provinces, districts and cities is very necessary, especially since Indonesia is an archipelagic country. This is done to make it easier for people to travel.

"The community can be served, areas that need support for passenger ships will be provided immediately. Considering that we are an archipelagic country, automatically the connectivity is ships," he said.

Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Passenger Ship Entrepreneurs Association (Apkapi), Jonny De Quelaju, noted that there are 207 ship fleets available throughout Indonesia. Therefore, he is committed to ensuring safety and comfort for passengers.

"Apkapi is trying to expand passenger ship shipping connectivity for people in Indonesia. For that, in the future, our mission is to help the government, so that we will open up connectivity to islands that have not been touched," he concluded.
