inp.polri.go.id - Banyuwangi. Army Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, together with the National Police Chief General Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, held a friendly meeting with Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Manager of Banyuwangi, Thursday, October 14, 2021. In this activity, the National Police Chief expressed his gratitude and appreciation for getting a warm welcome. In his remarks, the National Police Chief also recalled how his career journey as a member of the National Police could not be separated from the existence of NU. Since he was still the Chief of Police until now, he has become the Chief of the National Police. We synergize in activities necessary to maintain a conducive security and social order situation, said the National Police Chief. The former Banten Regional Police Chief also admits that he has been a big part of NU's family for a long time and will continue to do so at any time. "I feel like I have been a big NU family since a long time ago, and this will continue forever," explained the National Police Chief. On this occasion, the former Police Criminal Investigation Unit discussed how the handling of COVID-19 in Banyuwangi, East Java was quite good. From the reports he received, the vaccination rate in Banyuwangi has reached 60 percent. This, continued the National Police Chief, could not be separated from the participation of the Regional Government, religious leaders, community leaders and the entire community. "Because if this is not a tit for tat, it is difficult to reach 60 percent. The Commander and I always try to find out how the vaccination campaign can be carried out. Several areas have been invaded and are still tough, still 29 percent, 30 percent, etc. So if Banyuwangi has reached 60 percent, I give my appreciation," explained the National Police Chief. The National Police Chief also asked for the achievement of this vaccination to continue to be increased so that the growth rate of COVID-19 could be suppressed. Currently, Banyuwangi Regency has entered Community Activity Restriction Enforcement level 1. This will undoubtedly have an impact on easing community activities. "Community Activity Restriction Enforcement level 2 or 1 is much looser so that people can carry out their activities as normal, but not yet normal," said the National Police Chief. Although the Banyuwangi area is already at Community Activity Restriction Enforcement level 1, Sigit reminded us that the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia is not over yet. Nationally, the vaccination rate must reach 70 percent to achieve herd immunity. For this reason, he continues to ask the public, especially in the Banyuwangi area, to maintain health protocols (prokes) so that the number of COVID-19 in Indonesia does not increase again. This is, of course, our collective PR to be able to maintain it. We remember last July we were once where the daily number of COVID-19 was 56 thousand cases. So it is an event we've been through, and this cannot happen again. So we stay alert; we can be happy but stay alert. "By remembering that it happened in the past, today we will defend it so that it doesn't happen again," said Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Furthermore, the National Police Chief hopes that the vaccination rate in Banyuwangi will increase by 70 percent by the end of October. He was also sure because the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Leader report asked for increased vaccination attacks. So there are no more people who are afraid of vaccines, and all are waiting for vaccinations. "All that remains is the Health Office, vaccinators of the TNI and Polri, volunteers who join to strengthen and increase the rate of injections so that the rate of daily achievement of vaccinations can match the predetermined targets," said the National Police Chief. Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that currently, Indonesia is the number one country in Southeast Asia that can suppress the growth rate of COVID-19. This achievement, continued Sigit, is not a joke. This is because neighbouring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia are still carrying out restrictions and limited lockdowns. Moreover, the National Police Chief said that Indonesia could carry out the National Sports Week (PON) event, which other countries could see. After this, there will be other international events organized by Indonesia, such as the G20 conference in Bali and the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara. "This means that on the other hand, other countries have locked down, Indonesia has dared to have events both nationally and internationally. This is successful thanks to synergy, hard work between all stakeholders, the government and the community, and this must be maintained," said the National Police Chief. The National Police Chief also acknowledged that with the start of holding events both nationally and internationally, there would be a risk of transmitting the virus. For this reason, this is a joint work so that the number of COVID-19 in Indonesia does not increase again while still adhering to the health protocol and accelerating vaccinations. "We dare to carry out events, people start to dare to carry out activities, Indonesia when the travel warning has been lifted we can enter several countries including in activities both Umrah and Hajj. "So this is indeed our homework going forward, how after we open a space for interaction between regions, nationally and internationally, we can continue to suppress the growth rate of COVID-19," said the National Police Chief.
