inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Head of the Public Information Division (Penum) of the National Police Public Relations Division, Pol. Grand Commissioner, Ahmad Ramadhan, emphasized that the National Police currently focuses on eradicating illegal online lending practices. Not only on the downstream side or law enforcement, but on the upstream side through outreach and education activities in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders. As of October 2021, the National Police Headquarters has handled 371 illegal online loans (pinjol). Of these, 91 cases have gone to court, while the rest are still in the process of being investigated or investigated. The cases handled are based on community reports and cyber patrols carried out. "Almost all victims of this illegal loan do not understand the practice of fraud through online loans. Therefore, these promotive and preventive efforts are significant so that the National Police together with other stakeholders continue to provide understanding to the public so that they do not become victims of illegal lending," explained the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Thursday (10/14/21). According to him, an important aspect that must be considered by the community so as not to become a victim of illegal lending is related to legality. Therefore, make sure to only borrow from financial technology (fintech) that is legal or registered and has a license from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). When receiving an online loan offer, the public is asked to first check whether this online loan service provider is legal or not by opening the OJK website. If it is not registered with the OJK, leave it immediately because the threat of fraud is approaching, ordered the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Pol. Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan.
