The Vice Minister of Communication and Informatics Nezar Patria invites college students to be honest in using AI technology. “Honesty, I think that is the core principle that is important that will outlast everything,” says Nezar on Monday (1/29/2024). Nezar says that ChatGPT for example, the AI application has long sparked controversy in academic field due to its capability in “answering” questions instantly, without requiring the student to thoroughly think about it. According to Nezar, university still have to give some space for the application albeit the controversy. He, instead emphasized the educational institution to instill a strong principle to the students about honesty in learning and studying. “So, about this ChatGPT issue, for me, we should not halt its innovations, let it be. What must be done instead is to make our student wiser in using it. We should have taken advantage of the ChatGPT as optimally as possible. For example. the application could help us arranging business plan,” said NEzar. Nezar continued that in using AI technology requires skill in protecting own data privacy. He says that every digital platform can access our data privacy and every user could use those data. For that, he reminds the college students to be careful and protect their data privacy well.
