The Head Ops of Damai Cartenz Task Force, Senior Superintendent Faizal Ramadhani states his party is involved in 2024 General Election security to ensure election goes accordingly in Papua. Mainly, the task force duty is to act against the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) activities in Papua. “And we are committed to provide maximum security, to assist Papua Regional Police in securing the election from KKB,” says Faizal. Meanwhile, the Public Relations Head of Damai Cartenz Ops, Superintendent Bayu Suseno adds that his party implores all social elements in Papua to maintain unity and harmony ahead February 14th, 2024. Furthermore, as was stated by the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, difference in opinion in democratic state is normal and should not divide the community. The Police General stressed that whoever disrupts the election, could be charged with Article 517 Law No. 7 of 2017 concerning election. “The law states that whoever disrupts the election intentionally, could be charged with the law and sentenced with a maximum imprisonment of five years and a maximum fine of IDR 60,000,000.00 (sixty million rupiah)," said Bayu. On the other hand, the public figure of Papua, Thaha Alhamid told that local community held the pivotal role in ensuring the election goes peacefully. Every parties have to play their roles accordingly in ensuring the success of the election. “Local community played an important role in realizing peaceful election by supporting the government with maintaining peaceful and safe situation ahead the election,” said Thaha Alhamid.
