Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The Indonesian government targeted a reduction of 1.91 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions from the building sector by 2030, an official said on Thursday (26/9/2024).
Dian Irawati, the Director of Housing and Settlement Technical Development at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing said that, the government will promote green building practices, enhance energy efficiency, and utilize rooftop solar panels in public buildings, offices, and residences to reach the goal.
She emphasized the importance of a roadmap for green building implementation, guiding stakeholders in the sector, as reported by antaranews.com.
Fajar Santosa Hutahaean, also from the Housing and Settlement Technical Development Directorate, noted that priority will be given to public sector buildings, which typically have higher energy consumption.
If all government offices adopt green practices and reduce energy use by 25%, the estimated carbon emissions reduction could reach 1.91 million tons of CO2e by 2023.
