Indonesia and Serbia Pushed the Forming of PTA

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. During the side event of ASEAN Foreig Minister Meeting (AMM), Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi met with her Serbian counterpart Ivica Dačić. During their meeting Dačić expressed his appreciation for warm relationship between two nations that has been built since Asia-Africa Conference back in 1955. The two ministers agreed that the Bandung spirit, cooperation between the two developed countries, and awards in international laws have become more relevant and important amidst the geopolitical issues. Serbia signed the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC), becoming the 52nd country that access the treaty. Retno states her gratitude for Serbia in joining the TAC right when Indonesia hosting the summit. “Moreover, to improve the cooperation in economic sector of the two countries, we, Indonesia, pushed the forming of Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and the strengthening of business connection between the two countries,” says Retno. Retno also specifically said that Serbian entrepreneurs are invited to Trade Expo Indonesia and Indonesia – Europe Business Forum which would be held in Jakarta later in October. Indonesia and Serbia will also celebrate their 70 diplomatic partnership in 2024. In celebrating their good relationship, Dačić invites Retno to Serbia. Serbia is one of the biggest trade partners of Indonesia in West Balkan. The trade value of Indonesia and Serbia on the first half of 2023 have increased up to 227% than the previous year.
