Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The Indonesia-China Joint Laboratory for New Energy Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, a collaboration between Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), GEM, and Central South University (CSU), will soon open in Bandung, West Java.
The lab will feature two research centers: Hydrometallurgical Engineering Technology and New Energy Materials Engineering, plus 12 additional research labs, with a $30 million (around Rp 464.1 billion) investment.
ITB Rector Reini Wirahadikusumah said on Friday (30/8/2024) that the lab will make ITB a center for innovation in circular economy and sustainable development. The facility will include over 300 advanced devices and will be a premier site for metallurgical and energy materials research.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan emphasized its significance for enhancing Indonesia-China industrial cooperation. The lab is part of the Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to advance technological and cultural exchange between the two nations.
