This collaborative effort involves the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leverages international networks to locate and take action against these operators. The aim is to curb the intentional operation of online gambling activities from abroad, where gambling is legal in some jurisdictions, according to antaranews.com.

Minister Hadi stressed the need for cooperation with foreign countries to effectively address this issue.

This task force, established following President Joko Widodo's directive, includes officials from various ministries and agencies such as the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and law enforcement bodies.

It seeks to engage all relevant entities, focusing on law enforcement, cyber regulation, and financial transaction oversight.

According to theFinancial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), 3.2 million citizens participated in online gambling in 2023, with a significant number engaging in low-stake games.

The total turnover for the year amounted to Rp327 trillion.
