Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi held talks with Dutch counterpart Hanke Bruins Slot in The Hague on Thursday (1/2/2024), covering topics from economic cooperation to the Palestinian situation. "The Netherlands is one of Indonesia's key partners in Europe, serving as the largest trade and investment partner, including in the tourism sector," Minister Retno said. Minister Retno expressed optimism for the success of the 2024-2025 Action Plan, jointly signed with Minister Hanke in Jakarta last October. She underscored crucial bilateral priorities, including energy transition, digital industry, and the repatriation of Indonesia's historical artifacts. "I emphasize the importance of both countries continuing to collaborate in strengthening sustainable palm oil production. Notably, 14 percent of Indonesia's total exports to the Netherlands consist of palm oil," added Minister Retno. The Dutch Foreign Minister reaffirmed the Netherlands' commitment to developing Indonesia's National Capital (IKN), emphasizing water management and sustainable urban development. Furthermore, the Netherlands fully supports Indonesia's OECD membership application. Following that, Minister Retno discussed ASEAN-EU cooperation, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming foreign ministers' meeting on February 1-2 in Brussels. Lastly, the two ministers addressed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, with Minister Retno expressing deep concern. (ar/ndt/pr/nm)
