The Communication and Information Minister Budi Arie reveals three steps in preventing hoax news from spreading during 2024 General Election, which could support in creating peace atmosphere during the election. “First is not to immediately share the news you just received. Then, is to confirm the validation of the news and see where the info sourced from,” says Budi Arie on Wednesday (11/15/2023). “And lastly is to consider if the news is hazardous or not to be shared to others. If you find the news to be true however it is bad and potentially caused division, then it is better not to share it,” adds Budi. He says that the prevention of hoax in relation to election requires the participation of the general public, as it is part of the requirement in presenting a quality democratic practice. “The 2024 General Election is our agenda. For this agenda to be celebrated together, we need joint participation from all parties in guaranteeing its quality,” conclude Budi. (ad/ndt/pr/nM)
