inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is anticipating the possibility of extreme weather during Christmas and New Year Eve holidays by forming a special task force.
“We are preparing our personnel to anticipate the downpour that could lead to disaster. Thus, we have formed a special task force in the 2024 Lilin Operation to handle the situation,” says General Sigit following the roll call of 2024 Lilin Operation in Bali on Friday (12/20/2024).
General Sigit says the special task force involves many parties, including those from the Indonesian National Military (TNI), INP, National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
In his remark, General Sigit noted the importance of cooperation and solidarity between parties to ensure that the public can enjoy their holiday celebration without worry.
In addition, the Chief of Police predicts that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur in two waves, namely December 21st and 28th, 2024, while the peak of the return flow is estimated to occur on December 29th, 2024 and January 1st, 2025.
"We have mapped the potential for congestion on main routes, such as toll roads, arteries, and sea crossings. Traffic engineering efforts and cross-sector coordination have been prepared to anticipate the spike in vehicle volume," he said.
General Sigit hopes that with these various anticipatory steps, the public can pray, return to their hometown, and celebrate the New Year safely and smoothly.
Operation Lilin 2024 is an important operation in maintaining the security and comfort of the public during the long year-end holiday. The police together with all related elements continue to work hard to create a conducive situation throughout the country.
