INP Chief Opens AMMTC +3 Consultation, Emphasizes Collaborative Efforts Against Transnational Crime

Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of Indonesian National Police (INP) inaugurated the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting On Transnational Crime (AMMTC) +3 Consultation Meeting on Tuesday (22/8/23). In his opening remarks, he conveyed his appreciation for the dedication and collaboration among the three friendly nations with ASEAN. "As the Chief of the INP and the Chair of AMMTC Indonesia, I, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, extend my sincere gratitude to the Plus Three countries for their steadfast commitment to upholding cooperation with ASEAN," he said. He underscored that collaborative endeavors among nations are the linchpin for effectively countering the threat of transnational crime. He underscored that this partnership has been consistently cultivated over 26 years, spanning dimensions ranging from security to the economy and socio-cultural aspects. "The world is currently facing turbulence and uncertainty in various fields. There is no better time to invite all countries to seek commonalities rather than differences, to foster cooperation rather than competition," he said. The strong bonds that have been established have enabled ASEAN +3 countries to develop increasingly robust relations and collaborations in various forms. He also mentioned that the active participation and ideas from all ASEAN +3 countries contribute to achieving shared goals in confronting current and future challenges. "Hence, in this meeting, we hope to discuss potential aspects to strengthen our cooperation, transforming them into tangible efforts to combat transnational crime in the ASEAN region and beyond," he said. For the record, the 13th AMMTC +3 Consultation Meeting is attended by delegations from 10 ASEAN member countries, Timor Leste, the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as counterpart delegations from China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
