Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Directorate of Narcotics Crime of the Indonesian National Police (INP) continued its hunt of the international drug trafficker Fredy Pratama until his capture, along with efforts to track down his assets. "We will not cease our efforts to arrest Fredy Pratama," Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa, the Director of Narcotics Crime at the INP's Criminal Investigation Department said in his statement on Friday (2/2/2024). In the pursuit of Fredy Pratama's network, INP has launched an operation codenamed Escobar. In 2023, this operation rounded 46 individuals linked to the drug network associated with Fredy.  Last month, the Lampung Regional Police arrested eight people involved in his network, bringing the total to 54 suspects, he said as reported by antaranews.com. Out of the 46 suspects arrested in 2023, Chief Mukti said that one of them, Bayu Firmandi, is facing money laundering charge and is due to be prosecuted. Chief Mukti emphasized that the Escobar Operation team would persist in obstructing the narcotics trafficking activities of Fredy's network. Since 2020 until 2023, the team has seized a total of 10.3 tons of crystal methamphetamine linked to his network. He highlighted that the network has been using a new modus operandi involving financial transactions, where they no longer use bank accounts but instead utilize cryptocurrency or digital currency. As of now, General Mukti believed that Fred, who has been declared a fugitive by the INP and is on the Wanted List, is currently in Thailand.  INP has issued a red notice for Fredy Pratama and is collaborating with the Royal Thai Police and the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) of the United States to apprehend him. INP has been tracing Fredy's assets, both within Indonesia and abroad, with the intention of seizure. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
