Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In the face of rising hate speech and the spread of hoax news in the digital era, the Indonesian National Police (INP) has taken preemptive and persuasive actions by actively educating all segments of society to exercise prudence while using social media platforms.
"To anticipate hate speech and hoax news, INP prioritizes preemptive and persuasive measures by conveying a message to the entire society, encouraging them to exercise wisdom in their use of social media," stated the Head of Public Affairs Bureau at the Public Relations Division of the INP on Wednesday (July 26, 2023).
He pointed out that the widespread and rapid use of social media has provided a larger space for the dissemination of hate speech and hoax news.
"The increasingly widespread and rapid use of social media has unfortunately created a larger space for the dissemination of hate speech and hoax news. As a result, the INP remains unwavering in its commitment to continually enhance public understanding and awareness regarding the far-reaching consequences of spreading false and misleading information," he explained.
He expressed the INP's hope that the public will exercise greater caution before sharing information, urging them to verify the accuracy and authenticity of sources before believing and disseminating it.
In light of this, the INP maintains its vigilance by closely monitoring and taking firm action against those involved in the dissemination of hate speech and hoax news, thus safeguarding social stability and ensuring the security of the community, he concluded.
