Bali Regional Police Provides Assistance to Indonesian Assault Victim in Thailand

The Bali Regional Police is offering specialized assistance to Ega Kusuma Winahyu (EKW), a 27-year-old woman allegedly assaulted by her French boyfriend, Arthur Stepene Marvel Raymon, during their time in Thailand. Police Senior Superintendent Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, the Head of Public Relations Division of Bali Regional Police, stated that the incident occurred at Hotel Icon Karon in Phuket Province, Thailand, on Wednesday (July 19, 2023) at approximately 02:30 local time. Following the assault, EKW immediately reported the incident to the Thailand National Police or National Police Agency at Krarop Police Station in Phuket Provincial Police Region 8, around 05.12 in the early morning local time. On the same day, EKW returned to Bali via a Batik Air flight through Malaysia. "In order to provide a sense of security, the Bali Regional Police is currently offering specialized assistance to the victim, including conducting a medical examination and providing medications, vitamins, and moral support," he said in a written statement on Thursday (27/7/23). He concluded that the Bali Regional Police is coordinating with the Immigration, International Relations Division of the INP, and the Thailand National Police, to monitor the legal proceedings related to the case.
