inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo signed the extension of collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry for forestry development efforts. The Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, undeniably said that the active role of the police is very much needed in overcoming forest problems in Indonesia.
"We from the Ministry of Forestry are very happy and excited as we know exactly that the challenges in the forestry sector are very great, especially since we will soon face the summer season, where usually many forest fires occurred," said the Minister Raja on Monday (2/17/2025).
According to Raja, with limited human resources, cooperation with INP is very much needed in protecting Indonesia's forests as they have a network that reaches remote villages, even to the grassroots level.
General Sigit also said that the Bhayangkara Corps is ready to work together with the ministry for the next five years. Moreover, protecting forests as intended is one of the Asta Cita points of the government.
He said that the seasonal transition from the rainy season to the dry season is always a concern in preventing landfires. General Sigit saw the need for a joint step in enforcing the rules.
This MoU, said General Sigit, strengthens the cooperation in terms of law enforcement for violations that often arise and become forestry problems. In the future, it is hoped that this cooperation will truly save forests and help with food security issues.
