Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian National Police (INP), as a member of the National Coordinating Committee for the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering (TPPU Committee), supported Indonesia's membership in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Senior Superintendent Robertus Yohanes Dedeo, Head of Sub-Directorate III for Money Laundering Crimes at the INP Directorate for Special Economic Crimes, emphasized the joint commitment of all agencies within the TPPU Committee to Prevent and Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Crimes, antaranews.com reported. Although there are no specific tasks assigned to the members of the TPPU Committee following Indonesia's accession as the 40th full member of the FATF, he said that each institution focuses on areas or sectors based on their respective competencies. Chief Dedeo explained, "This is in line with the FATF recommendations that were assessed during the MER evaluation as a prerequisite for becoming a full member of the FATF". The INP focuses on the investigation and prosecution of TPPU, asset tracing and recovery, international cooperation in investigations and ATR, as well as the prevention and eradication of TPPT. He highlighted the police's additional focus on preventing and combating proliferation and WMD-related financing. The FATF is an organization of developed and developing countries that work together to establish and implement universal standards to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Indonesia officially became the 40th member of the FATF on 27 October. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
