The Cyber Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency is in the process of developing an application intended to serve as a platform for public complaints related to illegal International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI). "We are establishing a unified command center where, in simple terms, citizens won't need to file reports. This implies that citizens can conveniently utilize the application," stated Director of the Cyber Crime Directorate Brigadier General Adi Vivid Agustiadi Bachtiar as reported by pmjnews on Wednesday (8/9/23). He highlighted that the application's purpose is to authenticate illegal IMEI within the community. In the coming times, if individuals harbor doubts about their device's IMEI authenticity, they can utilize the application for subsequent actions. "If it turns out that after clicking the IMEI it is included in the 191.000 cases, we will provide the necessary measures, and I assure you that it will not harm the public as consumers," he said. Previously, the Criminal Investigation Agency was in the process of arranging a schedule to shut down 191.000 mobile phones that were registered with illegal IMEI. (bg/hn/nm)
